Julia: managing a School Family Engagement Team
The Family Engagement Team, trained and supervised by Julia, addresses the emotional, behavioural and welfare needs of the school’s pupils and their families. Julia trained as a psychosocial residential worker within a therapeutic community that provided intensive self-reflective dynamics groups for all members of staff, provided by a BPC consultant. She has supplemented this by many years of psychoanalytic supervision.
Nina: managing an Adoption Support Team
Nina’s team provides therapeutic support for adoptive families. Nina trained as a social worker. She has supplemented this training with many years of personal therapy and supervision from BPC clinicians, and through undertaking several courses in psychoanalytic theory and in the psychodynamic understanding of organisations, as well as participating in group relations conferences.
Alice: offering courses and consultation
Alice consults to schools and offers regular three-day intensive courses to police officers and social workers, helping them to collaborate more successfully in identifying signs of abuse and to work empathically with traumatised children.
Alice trained as a teacher, and has since then undertaken several years of additional training, including infant observation, psychodynamic supervision, psychotherapy and the APPCIOS webinar on organisational dynamics. APPCIOS members helped her to develop her courses, which APPCIOS now accredits.
